I’m finding it hard to find time to write, revise, and edit. The day job is one reason. Another is my effort to be healthier – working out regularly, eating healthier. That means more time in the kitchen and the gym.
It’s not all a matter of finding the time. I have to admit that other than Wednesday evenings, I haven’t been making the time.
It’s not that I don’t want to write – it’s that there are so many other things I want to do as well. I want to read. I want to pursue some of the arts and other interests. And I want some time that’s not allocated to doing something specific.
But I want to write. I want to publish. So I need to re-prioritize things. I need to put a higher priority on writing. Wednesday evenings can no longer be the only time I block out as committed to it.
It may mean I need to to start getting up earlier. Not an idea I like since I’m not a morning person. But if I can get other things done in that early morning time, I will have time to write later in the day.
There are other things that may help me get the most of the writing time I carve out of the day. I’ve done a bit of dictation using Dragon Speaking Naturally. Mostly it’s just for stuff I’ve handwritten – to get it into the computer. But it could definitely speed the process up if I get comfortable enough with it. I need to get my desk and office uncluttered as well. At the moment, it just doesn’t feel comfort because of the clutter.
I need to figure out how to give myself a deadline that will stick. I don’t have a problem meeting deadlines at work. Deadlines that are only to myself are another matter entirely. They always seem a lesser importance than other deadlines. I’m hoping that making Twilight’s Verge an official business will help with that.
Time to wrap this up and start working on the in-progress projects. I’ll tell how they’re going soon.
