Too Many Ideas

October 21, 2019 by Jenn Leave a Comment

I love my Double Helix universe. I love the characters and the possibilities. And I’m so ready to be finished writing this series and the short stories for the mailing list.

It’s not that I’m bored with it. It’s not that I don’t have ideas for stories in the universe. In fact, I have another three to four book series planned as well as a few short story collections.

It’s just that I have other universes and other stories I want to write. There are other characters whispering in my ear. Sometimes that makes it hard to write the Double Helix stories.

There’s the far future sci-fi/MMA episodic universe of Starfall Station. There’s the fantasy universe of my bards. There are the ghost stories and the portal story based on Celtic tarot with touches of Arthurian legend. And an urban fantasy or two.

Those are the novel length stories or series. There are short stories and novellas too. Queens, soldiers, spell weavers. People who fall into light. Fable/fairy tale retellings. And those are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

If I got into my project file, I could list over a hundred different projects of various lengths. And every so often I add a new one. I’m never going to have enough time to write them all. But I want to. Some of them have been hanging on and whispering at me for years.

So I need to finish up the Double Helix:Chameleon series. Then I’ll write something else. Maybe a stand alone book or two and some short stories. Or maybe a shorter series. Then I’ll come back to Double Helix and write the second series I already have sketched out.

How do I make more time so I can tell all my stories?
